Book of the Week #3 - A Study in Scarlet Women by Sherry Thomas

My current read is an ARC (Advance Reader Copy) of book 5 in the Sherry Thomas’ Lady Sherlock series, so for my book of the week, I thought I’d introduce you to the series with book 1, A Study in Scarlet Women. I’ve long been a fan of historical mysteries, and when I picked this one up last year, I binge-read the first 4 books. These books are quirky in terms of both characters and situations. The mysteries are complex, featuring lots of surprise twists and reveals. Some of these can get pretty wild, which I feel gives the series a vibe reminiscent of the original Sherlock Holmes stories. Charlotte Holmes’ character can be a bit polarizing, but I find her delightful, and her large cast of friends and associates all have their own interesting strengths and weaknesses.

You may enjoy this book if you like:

-gender-swapped retellings

-a heroine who isn’t going to let the world stand in her way

-a highly complicated, slow-burn romance thread throughout the series

-twisting, turning mystery plots with wild, action-packed resolutions
