Maya Rodale’s new release, Alice and Gabby’s Excellent Adventure, is a delightful mashup of time-travel romance and Freaky Friday body swapping. It’s fun and funny, but with a lot of depth. The wacky adventure takes our two protagonists on a journey of love, friendship, and finding oneself. Both young women are interesting, complex people, but each stuck in a rut of “this is how I need to behave.” Together, they break free from that, discover hidden depths in themselves, find love, and forge a friendship across time. If you enjoy time travel or YA romance, this is one not to be missed.
